Am I awake during the procedure?
Yes, and LASIK is pain free! The only anesthetic used is ONE numbing drop, that's it.
How long is the entire procedure?
Less than 20 minutes, for both eyes.
What are the risks with LASIK?
A small percentage of patients may have glare at night, ghost images, and/or a decrease in clarity. Many of these risks are minimized with new technology used.
Where is the procedure performed?
Laser vision correction is performed at TLC in Rockville and Fairfax or See Clearly Vision in Rockville and Tysons Corner.
What happens if I move during the procedure?
The laser used, Visx Star 4, has a tracking device, that monitors your eye movements.
What happens if I close my eyes during the procedure?
Your eye is held open with a "lid relaxer" which prevents you from closing your eye.
Is LASIK painful?
For most people there is little or no pain associated with the procedure.
How much is LASIK Eye Surgery?
$3800-4800 for both eyes.
Does insurance cover LASIK?
Most insurance companies do not cover refractive eye surgery, due to its elective nature.
Is there a payment plan?
The laser centers we use offer a payment plan that makes the procedure affordable. Depending on the payment option you chose, it may be as little as $75 per month.
How long before I return to work?
The typical patient resumes most activities within 1-2 days of the procedure.
Will I ever need glasses after the procedure?
Most people who are older than 40-45 will need reading glasses. Some may require glasses for some activities like driving at night.
